IU International University of Applied Sciences
IU International University of Applied Sciences is Germany's largest state-accredited private university, founded in 1998 as the International University of Applied Sciences Bad Honnef/Bonn. Headquartered in Erfurt, IU operates 37 physical campus locations across Germany — including Berlin, Cologne, Munich, Bad Honnef, Hamburg, and Frankfurt — plus a leading virtual campus serving over 130,000 students from approximately 190 countries.
The on-campus English-taught programmes are concentrated in Berlin, Cologne, Bad Honnef, and Munich. IU offers more than 250 degree programmes across IT & Technology, Business & Management, Health, Engineering, and Hospitality & Tourism, with intakes in April and October. All international programmes are taught entirely in English with no German language requirement to enrol.
IU is institutionally accredited by the German Science and Humanities Council (Wissenschaftsrat) — the highest level of state recognition in Germany — and was reaccredited in 2021. Programmes lead to standard German Bachelor, Master, and MBA qualifications, fully recognised across the European Higher Education Area and globally.
