Mercer University
Mercer University is a private research university founded in 1833 in Penfield, Georgia, making it one of the oldest universities in the American South. The university gained full university status in 1837 and relocated to Macon, Georgia in 1871, where its main campus remains today. With over 185 years of history and an endowment exceeding $502 million, Mercer is classified as an R2 doctoral research institution with high research activity by the Carnegie Classification system.
The university operates four campuses across Georgia — Macon (main), Atlanta, Savannah, and Columbus — and serves approximately 9,000 students through 12 colleges and schools. Academic offerings span over 180 programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels, including nationally recognized schools of Engineering, Nursing, Business, Medicine, Law, and Pharmacy.
