Budapest Metropolitan University
Budapest Metropolitan University (METU) is the largest private university in Hungary, founded in 2000 and headquartered in Budapest. Education commenced in 2001 with 126 students in communication and business communication; today METU enrols approximately 10,000 students across four core fields: Art, Business, Communication and Tourism. The university's motto, 'Inspired by Creativity', reflects its identity as Hungary's premier creative-arts institution.
METU operates three campuses across Budapest: the main Nagy Lajos király Campus in Zugló (District XIV), the Infopark Campus dedicated to art and design programmes, and the Rózsa Street Campus opened in 2010 for tourism and catering students. The university is 'Powered by Arizona State University' through an academic partnership that gives METU students access to ASU's online platform and dual-credential opportunities.
International students enter METU via Intensive English Preparatory Programmes, the Art Foundation Programme, or directly into English-taught Bachelor's and Master's degrees. The Institute of Art and Design is widely recognised across Central Europe for Animation, Graphic Design, Fashion and Textile Design, and Media Design — programmes that combine Budapest's strong visual-arts tradition with industry-standard digital studios.
