Montclair State University
Montclair State University is a public research university located in Montclair, New Jersey, just 14 miles from Midtown Manhattan. Founded in 1908 as the New Jersey State Normal School, it gained university status and has grown into New Jersey's second-largest university with over 22,500 students. The 486-acre campus spans Montclair, Clifton, and Little Falls. In 2016 MSU was designated a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), and in 2017 the New Jersey Legislature formally designated it a public research university with R2 research activity classification.
Academic offerings span more than 300 majors, minors, and concentrations across seven colleges and six schools: College of the Arts (including the John J. Cali School of Music), College of Education and Human Services, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics, Feliciano School of Business, School of Nursing, and the Graduate School. Degree types range from BA, BFA, BMUS, BS, and BSN at undergraduate level to MA, MAT, MBA, MEd, MFA, MM, MPH, MS, MSN, MSW, PhD, and AuD at graduate level.
