Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) is a public research university located on Ward Island in Corpus Christi, Texas. Founded in 1947 and known as 'The Island University' — it is the only US university located on its own island. Since joining the Texas A&M University System in 1989, TAMU-CC has grown into an R2 Doctoral University with High Research Activity, serving over 10,000 students across six colleges and the School of Arts, Media, and Communication.
The university is particularly distinguished for marine science and coastal studies through the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies, with PhD programs in Marine Biology and Coastal and Marine System Science attracting researchers from across the world. The College of Business holds AACSB accreditation, and the College of Engineering and Computer Science offers strong programs in mechanical, electrical, and computer engineering.
TAMU-CC offers 33 undergraduate majors, 25 graduate programs, and six doctoral programs. Notable strengths include Marine Biology, Environmental Science, Nursing, Geographic Information Science, and Mechatronics Engineering.
