Western New England University
Western New England University is a private, non-profit university in Springfield, Massachusetts. Founded in 1919 as the Springfield Division of Northeastern College, it gained independent college status in 1951 and became a university in 2011. The 215-acre suburban campus is home to about 3,700 students across five colleges: Arts and Sciences, Business, Engineering, Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and the School of Law.
WNE is best known for its tight-knit professional schools — the only law school in Western Massachusetts, an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy programme, and an ABET-accredited College of Engineering offering biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial, and mechanical engineering. The 0-6 PharmD and 3+3 Doctor of Occupational Therapy programmes let undergraduates progress directly into doctoral training.
Springfield, MA gives students access to a mid-sized New England city with strong industry ties — 39 km from Bradley International Airport, 138 km from Boston, and 241 km from New York City. International students make up about 5% of the student body, drawn from 30 countries.
